Charity & Community
This year we have been delighted to strengthen our links with the local community and help some special causes
Odd Socks Day
There was a fabulous, eye-popping array of mismatched colours and patterns on display as Heath Mount pupils and teachers alike showed it’s OK to be different. Our ‘Odd Sock Day’ in support of Anti-Bullying Week included special assemblies with
Mr Dawes who reminded the children about the importance of friendship
and standing up for each other. In the Pre-Prep, Reception listened to the funny and heart-warming story ‘Simon Sock’
to celebrate being unique. Over in the Prep School, meanwhile, Year 5 took part in an anti-bullying workshop where they used role-play to see how they might help a friend who is being bullied.
Harvest Goodwill
Year 8 pupils delivered harvest gift bags, donated through our Harvest Services, to Glebe Court in Watton-at-Stone.
The children were met with a friendly welcome at every door and so enjoyed their chats with the residents, many
of whom had tales to tell of their own experiences bringing in the harvest as part of the Land Army in WW2 or growing up on farms in the local area.
both near and far.
Movember
The Heath Mount ‘Mo Team’ raised an impressive £765 while growing some rather fetching moustaches to support Movember – the men’s health charity. Thank you to everyone in the Heath Mount community who so generously supported Mr Bowden, Mr Dawes,
Mr Brown and Mr Johnson.

Bake Off
In November, we were delighted to respond to a plea from local primary school, St Michael’s Woolmer Green, who were participating in the ‘Young Chef of the Year Award’ and were looking for a school with cooking facilities who could help. Their Year 5 pupils spent three afternoons cooking up culinary treats
in the Heath Mount food tech studio and Mr Gillam enjoyed his role as a judge!
