Heath Mount's award-winning choir collaborate with Katherine Jenkins and Marisha Wallace
We are delighted to announce that Heath Mount's Bax Choir has collaborated with the legendary Katherine Jenkins, Marisha Wallace and the London Concert Orchestra, featuring as the Children’s Choir in a virtual recording of World in Union.
In a time when the world needs to unite more than ever, the text of this song and the familiar Holst melody holds great meaning and transcends all boundaries:
“There’s a dream I feel, so rare, so real; all the world in union, the world as one. Gathering together, one mind, one heart; every creed, every colour, once joined never apart”.
Eighty-five musicians took part in this incredible collaboration, including 44 choristers aged 9-13 from Heath Mount, all of whom have been rehearsing online since the school closed in March due to lockdown. The children learnt the song with their conductor and Director of Music, Cassandra White, and then recorded their voice parts individually at home, before they were expertly edited together by Anthony Inglis and the London Concert Orchestra.
The children are overjoyed to see the final video and hear their voices joined together alongside world-class performers in such an exciting and meaningful project.
