Year6
After researching different types of ‘food on the go’, Year 6 came up with their own healthier – and tastier – versions of picnic treats and ‘fast food’ including spring rolls, samosas and mini quiche.
Year7
The focus was on food around the world and the challenges of student cooking! The children had to think about budgeting and making healthy meals in a short amount of time.
Year8
The pupils built on their student cooking skills from last year
by putting on a three-course dinner party together. Their delicious menus included tomato bruschetta, cheese straws, homemade burgers and sweet potato wedges, sweet
‘n’ sour chicken, fajitas with guacamole and salsa and for dessert: Spanish churros, carrot cake or victoria sponge, yum! At the end of the Summer term, Year 8 took part in two cooking masterclasses with Ben and Luke from Holroyd Howe as part of their Leavers’ Programme. On the menu were chicken kebabs with fresh citrus slaw and yoghurt and beef koftas with flatbreads!
