On Saturday night, Bax Choir helped raise the roof of All Saints' Church in Hertford as they sang their hearts out in aid of Heath Mount's new charity partner, Twende Education For All.  They were joined by The City of Cambridge Brass Band (CCBB) and soloist and compère for the evening, Anthony Harris. We were thrilled to raise over £2,200 to help provide teaching and resources at Twende's hospital-based learning centres in Lusaka for children with cancer and sickle cell anaemia. 

Our choristers, who have been rehearsing hard for months in the build-up to the concert, gave stunning performances which showcased their beautiful harmonies and technical ability.  Their impressive repertoire included J.Martin's Come To The Music, the fast-paced Rhythm of Life and the supremely moving Each And Everyone by Andy Beck. They also joined Anthony Harris for two sweeping ballads: You Raise Me Up and There Can Be Miracles. 

Anthony, who compèred the evening with huge charm and charisma, treated the audience to the wonderfully comical I Want To Sing In Opera as well as musical theatre favourite Different from the musical Honk!  He promised plenty of audience participation and achieved a party atmosphere with a fantastic choreographed rendition Can't Take My Eyes Off You.   

The CCBB, conducted by Philip Fisher, launched the musical extravaganza with Gregson's ideally named Prelude For An Occasion and upped the tempo even further with the Marche Militaire Francais and One Night Only.  Seal Lullaby provided a beautiful moment of reflection while their performance of Celtic-themed masterpiece Gaelforce by Peter Graham was the perfect choice to end the programme with a fiery flourish.

Heath Mount's Director of Music, Robert Fisher, thanked all the evening's performers for giving up their time and talent so generously.  It certainly was an evening to remember.
