On Friday, Year 4  transformed into Saxons to spend the day immersed in the past.  We welcomed John from educational workshop provider History Off The Page to help navigate the world of King Alfred and protect the Heath Mount 'settlement' from viking invasion. The children had a brilliant time learning battle skills, curing ailments with traditional herbal remedies, sculpting lucky charms to ward off evil spirits and trying their hand at weaving and candle making.  The day was complete with an archaeological dig, excavating the past and assembling the clues to learn about our long-distant ancestors.
