Celebrating The Start Of A New Academic Year

Over 1,000 members of the Heath Mount community including current families, staff and alumni, joined us for our annual Fun Day on Saturday.  Thankfully, the sun appeared and everyone enjoyed a brilliant afternoon of activities for all ages as well as delicious refreshments.  The inflatable assault course proved a big hit with the children, as did the football dartboard, helter-skelter, 'balloon burst' and face-painting.  Another highlight was the electric go-kart course which was kindly provided by our Holiday Camp specialists, Let's Leap Sports Academy.  Live music, a 'cash grabber', the fancy dress parade for little ones and the toy tombola all added to the fun atmosphere.

The day was masterminded by our parents' association event committee who, together with a team of parent and staff volunteers, worked tirelessly to make it the success it was.  Thank you to everyone who donated items to the stalls, ran the bar, baked a cake or grilled a burger!

Twenty of the stalls were run by our Year 7&8 pupils in aid of our school charity partner, Twende Education For All, which provides in-hospital learning and play therapy for children undergoing treatment for cancer and sickle cell anaemia in Lusaka, Zambia.  We were very proud of the children's efforts and amazed at their creative fundraising ideas, which ranged from home-made jewellery to Nerf gun challenges and a human fruit machine!
