U10 and U13 teams show winning form at Millfield and Canford

The U13 girls A and B teams had an unforgettable trip to Somerset where they competed in the prestigious Millfield U13A Invitational competition. The Heath Mount coaches entered both teams (including pupils from both Years 7&8) into the A team section and their belief in the girls was certainly rewarded.

Both teams stormed through their pool stages, winning their respective pools with dominant displays. They faced off against a strong array of teams from across the West Country, including Sherborne Girls, Millfield, Churston Grammar, Collegiate, Wellsway, and Blundells. After a thrilling journey, the B team made it all the way to the semi-finals but were narrowly defeated by a powerful Redmaids side. However, they bounced back in style, winning the bronze medal game. Meanwhile, the A team delivered a spectacular performance in their semi-final, winning 19-3 before beating Redmaids 7-1, to lift the trophy with a well-deserved victory.

A special highlight was their stay at the Premier Inn, affectionately dubbed the "Purple Palace" by the girls, where the memories off the court were just as enjoyable as those on it. It was a trip full of laughter, great team spirit, and special moments.

The Year 5 girls thoroughly enjoyed their first overnight netball tournament away at Canford School in Dorset. The team played exceptionally well, remaining unbeaten throughout the entire day. They dominated the competition from the outset, securing convincing victories against a series of prep schools from the south coast, including Dumpton, Durlston, Chafyn Grove, Forres Sandle Manor, and Sandroyd.

A memorable highlight of the trip was meeting Ellie Gibbons, the former Surrey Storm Super league player, who inspired the girls with her skills and advice. We look forward to seeing what the rest of the season holds for this talented group of players.
