More Success For Unstoppable U11s at English Schools Regionals

Following their success last term at the IAPS regionals, the U11 girls completed the double by winning the English schools regional competition this week. In both competitions, the team claimed top spot and in doing so went over 3.5 hours without conceding a goal.  Monday's regional competition took place at Gresham's School in Norfolk and each game was a closely fought affair.

Heath Mount started strong, gaining two victories v The Perse (1-0) and Langley School (1-0) followed by goalless draws against Brentwood and Bedford that placed the girls top of their group. They then faced Town Close in the semi-final where a last gasp goal from Amber meant the team progressed to the final. There, they met Langley School again who were the Norfolk champions and, after a nil-nil score in normal time, Fleur scored the crucial shuffle penalty goal.  Beth and Anwen also played a key role, making excellent saves.

"The girls have had a great season and achieved more than any previous Heath Mount hockey team," says their coach, Mr Russell. "It will be exciting to see them develop over the next couple of years."
