This week we were very excited to welcome back to school our Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 pupils. They returned to a new reality of socially distanced learning and have taken to it like ducks to water. Teachers and support staff had worked tirelessly over half term to make sure the school was as safe and welcoming as it could be. Their hard work was rewarded by the smiles of the children as they literally skipped into school excited to be able to see their friends once again.
The sunny weather at the beginning of the week enabled us to take classes outside for some of their lessons and all of the pupils have enjoyed their picnic lunches under the trees. Year 6 pupils have started each morning with a wellbeing walk around the school grounds while Prep-Prep pupils have enjoyed story times on the fountain lawn.
We are grateful to everyone who pulled together to make this partial return to school possible. Our incredible maintenance team designed and built 6 external hand washing stations complete with hot water and also created new classrooms. The grounds team, meanwhile, created sports grids, footprints and divided playing fields while our cleaning team scrubbed and disinfected in preparation for the pupils' return.
