The Learning Support Department is led by our experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator and two specialist Learning Support Assistants. They work to support classes, small groups and individuals across the school where children have additional needs, helping them to learn more effectively and be confident in their abilities.

All children are screened in the Early Years Foundation Stage to help identify any speech and language difficulties, and again in Year 3 for dyslexia. Teachers regularly monitor progress and attainment of all pupils and in cases where children do not make the expected progress, the learning support department works with colleagues to tailor additional support to best meet their needs.

Additional support for pupils is offered in a variety of ways, including small group work, classroom support, targeted interventions and occasionally one to one sessions.

The SENCo and LSAs liaise closely with teachers and parents to ensure effective communication about any additional learning needs. When needed, we also work with a range of outside specialist agencies, including speech and language therapists, educational psychologists and occupational therapists.
