Sir Cecil Beaton was a famed photographer, illustrator, diarist and Oscar-winning costume and set designer. Born in London on January 14, 1904, he was a pupil at Heath Mount from 1913 to 1916. He received his first camera age 11 and was taught how to use it by his nurse.  Cecil went on to become staff photographer at Vogue and Vanity Fair.  He was renowned for his celebrity and society portraits.  The main library at Heath Mount is named the Beaton Library in his honour.
