The anticipation has been building since the start of term and on Saturday the gates finally opened for our annual Fun Day which traditionally brings the whole school community together to mark the beginning of a new academic year. Organised by our wonderful parents' association, the du Maurier Society, the afternoon included a host of giant inflatables, craft activities, fancy dress parade, dance performances, delicious refreshments, sweet treats and stalls. A huge thank you to the army of parent volunteers and staff who helped on the day or donated prizes and gifts to our raffle and stalls.
This year our Upper School pupils were given the chance to run their own stalls and activities and they showed real entrepreneurial spirit! Some pupils chose to make their own crafts to sell including artwork, jewellery, pom-pom keyrings and even slime. Others ran waffle or cake stalls and a few brave souls put themselves into the stocks offering younger pupils the chance to splat them with wet sponges!
We were thrilled to welcome back so many recent Leavers who happily reminisced about their Heath Mount days while catching up with friends about their senior school experiences.
The du Maurier team have already begun the planning for our next event of the Heath Mount social calendar - Fireworks' Night on Friday 4th November. Following the success of last year's pyro-musical extravaganza, we're sure it will be another night to remember!
