Julia Donaldson's story is brought to life in the woods
With the help of their teachers, Reception children faithfully re-enacted Julia Donaldson's much-loved story The Scarecrows' Wedding in the woods this week. Dressed in their finest scarecrow and farmyard outfits, they gathered around the fire pit to listen to the story before heading off to find everything on Harry O'Hay and Betty O'Barley's list. The children were excited to find a trail of flowers, shells, feathers and bells which they put into their baskets ready for the 'best wedding yet, the wedding that no one will ever forget!' The afternoon finished with a wedding ceremony in the willow tunnel complete with autumnal bouquets and wedding rings. We were joined by our 'congregation' of Nursery children who kindly rang the bells in celebration.
