Year 8's Grimm Tales

Stunning production brings stories to life using puppetry and physical theatre

This week our Year 8 pupils celebrated the art of storytelling through physical theatre and puppetry as they recounted four famous tales from the brothers Grimm. Mrs Mann, Head of Drama, once again weaved her magic with an exciting and fresh production which the children helped to devise and stage-manage. Throughout the production, Year 8 acted beautifully and showed their skill at different forms of puppetry.

With minimal staging but dramatic use of lighting, sound, props and puppetry, the cast showed both a dark and comedic side to the stories of Rapunzel, The Three Little Men, Red Riding Hood and Hansel and Gretel.

"The story of The Three Little Men was extremely exciting because they used puppetry and live acting. It was scary in a good way! I thought it was amazing how they swapped their characters so smoothly and the way they kept using different formations." Claudia Y, Year 5

Congratulations to both the cast and Mrs Mann on a truly compelling performance.
