The brilliant satirical novelist, Evelyn Waugh, was a pupil at Heath Mount from 1910-17. In his last year he established and edited The Cynic school magazine.
Waugh completed his education at Lancing College and Hertford College Oxford. He briefly became a schoolmaster before taking up writing full-time as a novelist, journalist, travel-writer and book reviewer. His most famous works include Decline and Fall, Brideshead Revisted and A Handful of Dust.
