Girls' Brilliant Performance Secures IAPS Title
On Friday, Heath Mount's U12A netballers became the school’s first ever team of national champions in the IAPS Netball Finals at Oundle School. After a successful morning making it out of the pools into the final 8 in the country, the ultimate prize was in their sights! They beat previous winners Twyford in the quarter-final before facing Millfield in the semis. After a tough first half, the girls fought back in a late second half surge with an incredible display of teamwork to win by two goals and gain a place in the final against Bromsgrove.
Down by just one goal at half-time, the girls knew they were in with a chance. They battled it out to finish 8-8 before three minutes of extra time were given. As the timer ran down, and with adrenaline running high, Izzy W shot the final goal to secure the win for Heath Mount. In that moment, there was not a dry eye in the house as parents and coaches came running onto the court to celebrate an extraordinary moment in the school's history. We are so proud of what this team has achieved and they have no doubt inspired our other pupils to reach for the stars, too.
This fantastic result is the culmination of four years of dedication and training with our exceptional coaching team led by Miss Sophie Meister (Netball One's National Teacher Of The Year 2023) and assisted by elite netballer and Saracens player Miss Caitlin Rump.
